The updater is suddenly broken

Other people and I have previously reported problems with the huge window of the Updater:

Now, at least the Updater was usable before today. But suddenly, today when I tried to launch the game the Updater's window is bigger than ever and it's impossible to click 'Play'. What happened? What should I do with this?

It's possible to have this bug after changing some parameters in Windows. Here is a link to a page on microsoft.com showing how to change those settings.
If you did change those settings, the only fix available is to change them back.

I didn't change any Windows settings for the last couple of months or so. Furthermore, I didn't even reboot my PC since the previous several times I played the game, so I don't think it has to do with anything about Windows settings/updates/etc.
